Summary:
Responsible for overseeing the overall cleanliness and maintenance of a facility by supervising a team of custodial staff, creating schedules, assigning tasks, ensuring proper use of equipment and supplies, and maintaining safety standards within the district building. Trains staff and provides feedback to ensure the highest standards are maintained in an educational facility.

Performs all other work as required.

 

Essential Functions:

• Maintains the cleanliness and safety of all school and building grounds.
• Cleans floors, carpets, bathrooms, walkways, hallways, classrooms, playgrounds, walls, windows, and all other areas of the buildings and grounds as instructed by the supervisor.
• Finish floors using strippers and final finishes.
• Reports any deficiency to the administrative staff and via the Work Request System.
• Empties trash and maintains a safe area around dumpsters.
• Ensures all building areas are safe and secure.
• Maintains a safe area within and around the building by removing hazardous debris.
• Assists with the coordination of overtime and extra duty shift assignments as required to support activities in the building.
• Maintains inventory of equipment and consumable supplies for the team to successfully maintain the facility.
• Sands and salts walkways, runs snow blowers and shovels walkways and doorways as needed.
• Reports fire hazards and other deficiencies.
• Performs preventative maintenance on cleaning equipment.
• Trains staff in the proper operation of the equipment utilized.
• Follows the guidelines of confidentiality as established by the school district.

   

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED; 2+ years of prior supervision experience or 3 to 5 years of custodial
experience in the Windham School District, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
